Students: Your ASU Technology Access Account

Overview

Most student technology services at ASU are accessible with your Technology Access Account. It will allow you to access network services in the labs, residence halls, via wireless, and from off campus. This account will also provide you access to RamPort (ASU’s portal). With the Technology Access Account, you will be given an ASU e-mail account that can be used both on and off campus through RamPort’s e-mail feature.

Getting Your Account

You can get your account when you bring your activated ASU OneCard to any general access computer lab. Your Technology Access Account name will be your first initial followed by your last name and possibly some digits for uniqueness. You will be asked to sign the terms of agreement for the account and an initial password will be automatically created for you.

Using the Account

At the time the account is issued you will be given a card with your user name and password. To log on in the labs type your username and use the password printed on the card. When choosing your password keep in mind password quality to ensure the security of your personal files and accounts.

When you set the password for your network login, save the card. The initial password is also your e-mail password. The e-mail password does not change when you change your network password. You have the option to keep the initial password for e-mail, but most will change it to something easier to remember when they log on to their account for the first time. To change the password, go to options and then change password.

Changing Your Password

You can change your password from on-campus or off-campus using the Change Password web page.

Forgot Your Password

If you forget your password for your network account or your e-mail, come in person to any of the general use labs and present your valid ASU OneCard. Due to security concerns we cannot change a password over the phone.

Change Technology Access Account Name

If you have legally changed your last name or you discover that your name was misspelled in your technology access account user name you can update and correct your username. You can open a helpdesk request to make the change. This will have an impact on several accounts so you need to be sure that this will be right for you.
