ASU Forum
Created with the involvement of the vice presidents and the approval of President Rallo, the primary goals of the ASU Forum include:
- Providing a venue to exchange information across divisional lines;
- Creating an environment to discuss the impact of broad-based institutional initiatives;
- Facilitating the discussion about current University programs, projects, initiatives—especially as they impact different departments and divisions.
Basic tenets of the Forum are as outlined below.
- The Forum’s agenda is comprised of two parts: a thematic discussion and an exchange of information.
- Meetings are on a monthly basis and will not exceed 90 minutes in length.
- The Office of the Vice President for Strategy, Planning and Policy serves as the convening agency and handles all details (meeting arrangements, announcements, posting of minutes and action items to the website).
- The thematic discussion focuses each month on one issue of University-wide consequence (e.g., becoming a residential campus), in a time period not to exceed 45 minutes. The remainder of the meeting serves as a venue for exchange of information.
- The Forum is designed to engage community members in a discussion about University activities and initiatives, with the goal being facilitating of communication that will, in turn, improve programs and services.
- Attendance is purely elective, as schedules allow.
- The President and Vice Presidents attend as their schedules allow (with the exception of the Vice President for Strategy, Planning and Policy, who serves as chair and primary convener).
- The Forum is NOT a policy-reviewing body as was its predecessor, the Administrative Council. Policy will be discussed as an information item. Policy review is handled under the new “policy on policies.”
