Vice President for Student Affairs
and Enrollment Management

Search Update

Dear Colleagues:

After re-advertising the position of vice president for student affairs and enrollment management in January, the search committee received four formal applications, none of which met the qualifications we were seeking in a new vice president, and two additional inquiries after the search process was closed.  Upon the recommendation of Dr. Maurice Fortin, who chaired the search committee, I am suspending the search and will fill the position on an interim basis through the Registry for College and University Presidents.

The Registry provides a pool of experienced administrators willing to accept interim appointments at universities nationally.  By filling the position with an experienced university administrator, we will be able to move forward both in the operation of this new position before the start of the next academic year and in conjunction with a new provost when that position is filled.

Our goal will be to re-open the search for a vice president for student affairs and enrollment management during the next academic year and to fill the position on a permanent basis some time in 2011.  For our immediate needs, I believe filling the position on an interim basis with an experienced university administrator through the Registry is the best course for us.

While this search has been a frustrating process for us all, the members of the search committee did a superb job in meeting their obligations and the charge they received.  Though we are all disappointed that we did not find a suitable candidate for the position, I believe we are best to proceed in this manner as we work to enhance our capabilities in student affairs and enrollment management in line with the goals of the Texas Tech University System.

Sincerely,
Joseph C. Rallo
President
