Department of Modern Languages

Welcome to the Department of Modern Languages!

Russian students using the Modern Language Lab
The Department of Modern Languages at Angelo State University offers courses in French, German, and Spanish leading to a B.A. (with or without teaching certification), as well as courses in beginning and intermediate Russian.

Our comprehensive academic programs form an integral part of the education provided by ASU's College of Liberal and Fine Arts, assisting students to develop an informed appreciation of languages, literatures, and cultures while acquiring skills in critical thinking, effective writing, and oral communication.

Our committed faculty members guide undergraduate students in understanding the issues involved in approaching another culture through the language of that culture. Students benefit from individualized instruction and a language laboratory which is located near the departmental offices and classrooms in the Academic Building.

ASU's Department of Modern Languages helps prepare students for careers in both the private and public sectors in business, education, healthcare, and public service. Many of our majors spend at least one semester studying in Mexico, France, or Germany. Our study abroad programs are designed to meet the needs of ASU students, ensuring an exceptional academic experience and a complete cultural immersion.
